Here are additional tips to help you make the most of Entrepreneurs “Do It Yourself” Marketing Month:
Be quotable.
Make your contributions to online and in-print media informative and interesting.
Reflect on current events, headlines, or local news.
Leave insightful comments on forums and other people’s blogs.
Help a reporter with information about your area of expertise.
Answer questions from your unique perspective.
Provide a prize for a trade show or networking event that brands your company.
Publicize both the prize and the winners.
Build your own e-mail list; don’t buy one.
Encourage people to opt-in with a freebie, discount, giveaway, or prize.
Be clear that you NEVER rent, sell, barter, or share your list.
Participate in a joint venture to increase subscribers.
Make a donation to charity whenever you get a new customer.
Include this information on your Web site, in your press releases, and when “your” charity is hosting a celebration.
Make navigation easy on your Web site, in your blog, and in your Twitter tweets.
Cut down on the number of clicks required to take action.
Make it simple for prospective clients to get what they want.
Be kind to gatekeepers.
Be remembered as someone who cares about others, not as someone who is only interested in the powerful, highly paid people at the top.

I couldn’t wait until my regular blog posting to share this little tool for those who shop online.
Go to http://www.sizeasy.com.
Type in the product dimensions specified by the retailer.
Get a 3-D image to help you visualize the size of the item.
You can also use this tool for size comparison purposes. Now you can know instantly whether the new improved model size is right for you.

Let’s continue the celebration of Entrepreneurs “Do It Yourself” Marketing Month with more tips.
Listen to understand.
You will be remembered as a person who cares.
Also, with a clear picture of what prospects and clients want, you are positioned to solve problems and make dreams come true.
Host a networking event or celebration.
Sponsor a contest or hold a drawing and give prizes.
Create a special promotion.
Announce these in the press.
Use your newsletter or e-zine to share details with prospects and clients.
Ask for referrals.
Offer an incentive for those who give referrals.
Set up an affiliate program.
Give the person who recommends you a $30 credit on future services or a check for 10% of the new client’s first purchase. (Check company and government laws concerning gift-giving first.)
Set up an employee and/or customer of the week (or month or year) program.
Express your appreciation.
Give awards and prizes.
Send out press releases.
Create an online award symbol that links back to your company.
Look for free or low cost business cards.
These will look more professional than cards with perforated edges that you create on your computer and print yourself.
Type “free business cards” into the Google search box and you will see companies like VistaPrint, Overnight Prints, and 123Prints.
Create promotional material to fit the occasion.
With an easy-to-use desktop publishing program like Microsoft Publisher, you can create brochures, calendars, flyers, greeting cards, newsletters, and postcards with your logo and brand information.
